Living as a Letter of Christ in 2 Corinthians 3
A Life That Speaks for God
The Apostle Paul explains that believers are living testimonies of Christ. “You are a letter from Christ… written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts” (2 Corinthians 3:3). Our lives are meant to show Christ through both heart and action. Every word, choice, and act of love is part of a testimony that points people back to Him.
All Ability Comes From God
Paul makes it clear that none of this comes from human strength. “Such confidence we have through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves… but our competence comes from God” (2 Corinthians 3:4–5). When we rely on Him, He equips us to serve and live faithfully. Human effort will always fall short, but God’s Spirit gives us everything we need to follow Him.

The Veil Removed
Paul draws a powerful image from Israel’s history. Moses veiled his face because the glory of the old covenant was fading (2 Corinthians 3:7–13). In the same way, when people try to approach God through human effort alone, a veil covers their hearts and blinds their understanding (2 Corinthians 3:14). Only in Christ is that veil taken away. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

Transformed Into His Likeness
When the veil is lifted, we see clearly. Paul writes, “We all… contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory” (2 Corinthians 3:18). This is the heart of the gospel. True freedom and transformation are not about keeping laws or depending on our wisdom. They come from turning fully to Jesus and allowing His Spirit to shape us.
Living With Unveiled Hearts
2 Corinthians 3 calls us to live openly before God, filled with His Spirit, and transformed into His likeness. We are not bound to the fading glory of the old law but to the eternal glory of Christ that grows brighter in us each day.
